Lynn Ferguson goes back to school ...

Cumbernauld High welcomed back one of its most successful former pupils when the writer, actress and stand-up comic, Lynn Ferguson, returned to answer questions from today’s youngsters.

Since leaving school, Lynn has enjoyed great success both in performing and writing but still treasures her strong links with the community she grew up in.

During her visit she was welcomed by the school’s English Department and joined Mrs McCabe’s S3 class to offer an insider’s view of the world of stage and screen. The youngsters asked many questions about her work and were delighted to learn she had opted to visit them rather than start writing an episode of Holby City!

Mrs McCabe said, “It was wonderful for the school to welcome Lynn back. She is a great example to our youngsters of how talented and hard-working individuals can go on to achieve success, not only in Scotland but also at an international level.”

Head Teacher Walter Muir added, “We greatly appreciate Lynn giving up time from her busy schedule. The pupils found the session both interesting and enjoyable. Moreover, if it encourages them to raise their own expectations it will have been time very well spent.”
