New Zealand where he became a successful businessman
and farmer. As a wealthy man he was drawn into
politics and became an important figure in New
Zealand. Renowned for his hard work, Walter also did
a lot for charity. |

Sir
Raibeart
MacIntyre |

(1892-1949).
Raibeart was one of many Scots who forged the
British Empire. In 1915, after graduating from
Glasgow University, he joined the Indian Civil
Service. In 1941 he was appointed Counsellor to the
Governor of Burma. In 1947 Sir Raibeart retired and
returned to Britain but lived only another two years
before his death in 1949. |
