Neil
McCann

Sport

Neil is a top footballer who has been a favourite with the fans of a number of top clubs thanks to his wonderful skills on the left-wing. His clubs include Hearts, Rangers and Southampton. Neil has also played for Scotland on many occasions - an honour he is immensely proud of.

Carrie
Eardley

Star Pupil

St Stephen's made the news when national television and radio came to Inverclyde to film senior pupil Carrie Eardley reporting on the Peaceful School Initiative. This scheme was set up with youngsters in local schools as a way of reducing conflict and violence involving school pupils.

Bernard
McLeary

Education

Bernard was the first Director of Education when the new local authority area of Inverclyde was set up. He is now Chief Executive of Learning and Teaching Scotland - one of the top posts in education. However many former pupils will remember him best as Mr McLeary, Assistant Head Teacher at St Stephen's!

Gordon
Matheson

Politics

Many Inverclyde people have gone on to become local councillors, MSPs and MPs. Gordon is a good example.  In 1999 he was elected  as a member of Glasgow City Council. He is a graduate of Glasgow University, and formerly worked with the Royal National Institute of the Blind.

Mike
Conroy

Sport

Mike showed a lot of promise as a young footballer at school and has gone on to enjoy a long career in the sport.  He played for a number of clubs including Celtic, Hibs, Blackpool and Wrexham. Since he stopped playing Mike has been working for the Football Association of Ireland.

Sean
Roxburgh

Business

Sean is a multi-talented individual. He is part of the IBM 'language initiative' which offers a great opportunity to school leavers to study a language as well as gain business qualifications. Sean is studying both IT and Spanish which will provide him with ideal skills upon which to build a fruitful career.
