Government |
|
Politicians make Government decisions but it is
civil servants who put them into practice.
Without civil servants, important services such as
hospitals and schools would grind to a halt. Many
former pupils have gone on to enjoy successful
careers in the Civil Service. Alan is a good
example. He has held many top posts including
a spell working closely with a government minister.

Health |
|
Many
former pupils work in the National Health Service. Janet
studied Medicine at university and at one stage
of her career was a doctor in the Accident &
Emergency Unit of a major hospital where she dealt
with victims of major road
traffic accidents as well as patients with sprained ankles!
She has since become a General Practitioner (GP)
based at a local health centre.

Community |
|
Many
pupils choose to help people less well
off than themselves. For example, Emma spends a lot
of time working with a volunteer group which helps
the families of local children with special needs.
Emma is happy to give up her spare time in this way
because she finds it very satisfying and has also
made many good friends. Now she is considering
a career in education.
