The Schools Alcohol Awareness Project

About Us ...

The Schools Project is a
teacher-led partnership set
up in 2000 to establish common sense links between schools and other bodies.

We work with government agencies, professional organisations and the private sector to develop low-cost projects that are extremely simple, teacher-friendly and easily managed.

The Schools Project is not government funded. We operate commercially on a self-sustaining basis while all our projects have an ethical dimension, raise the ambitions, skills or fitness of youngsters, or offer benefit to the wider community.

Patrick Gaffney is the founder and Director of The Schools Project. He runs the partnership but maintains direct links with the classroom by continuing to teach regularly in schools.

Patrick is an experienced teacher and has written extensively for primary and secondary schools.

The Schools Alcohol Awareness Project has been developed in co-operation with BII.

BII is the professional body for the licensed retail sector.  It has over 15,000 members and promotes high standards, good employment practice, and social responsibility within the hospitality industry.

BII encourages professionalism by providing its members with the high quality qualifications, up-to-date information and the wide range of skills required to develop their long-term careers.  Its qualifications are accredited by the Ofqual and the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA).

BII is a registered charity.

In 2004, The Law Society presented Patrick with an award for his work on the Schools Law Project, an award he proudly refers to as his 'Lawscar'.
