Local lawyer to answer pupil questions at Buckie High

Loane Lennon, a partner in Anton’s Solicitors in Buckie, will be visiting Buckie High School shortly to participate in a Question & Answer session with senior pupils.

The visit has been arranged as part of the Schools Law Project, an initiative backed by the Scottish legal profession as a way of introducing young people to the legal system and the wide variety of work that lawyers do.

Mrs Lennon is an experienced solicitor who has practiced in the Moray area for 12 years. She deals with all aspects of legal work including property, private client and commercial law.

During the visit, pupils will therefore be able to ask questions on a wide range of topics including how the law affects young people. Mrs Lennon will also be happy to chat afterwards to senior students who may be considering a law course at university.

Speaking of the upcoming visit, a spokesperson for the school said, “We are very grateful to Loane for finding the time to visit us. The relaxed session we have planned will give pupils a great opportunity to find out more about the legal system and how it may affect them now and in the future. Senior pupils considering a legal career will also value the chance to find out about the day to day work lawyers do.”

Meanwhile, Mrs Lennon said, “It is really vital that young people understand our legal system and do not feel inhibited when dealing with members of the legal profession. I am very happy to answer the questions pupils may have and hopefully the session will also help to break down some of the stereotypes which still persist about lawyers and the work they do.”

The programme of lawyer visits is backed by the Law Society of Scotland. The Society’s Director of Education & Training, Liz Campbell commented, “I am pleased that this nationwide project is proving helpful for the staff and pupils at Buckie High. I am sure Loane will receive a warm and enthusiastic welcome from the school.”

Patrick Gaffney, Director of the Schools Law Project added, “I am extremely grateful to Antons Solicitors for assisting Buckie High in this way. I know they are a busy law firm so I appreciate the time Loane is taking to assist local youngsters.”
