The Schools Law Web
brings teachers and lawyers together to introduce young
people to the legal system and those who work within it.
The
scheme was set up in 2003 and has now catered
for 175,000 pupils across the UK.
The Schools Law Web is delivered by teachers but its success is due entirely to the support
of our members from the legal community, something the teacher organisers are
very grateful for.
The key to
the project is simplicity. As members join up, we
extend the project to local schools in their area which
then benefit
from the project
elements shown opposite.
Meanwhile,
our members also stand to
benefit
from positive publicity in the local community. (see
benefits)

"The weekly topical quiz gives the Citizenship team a
ready-made, relevant, stimulating and accessible starter
- and keeps the teachers on their toes! Many
thanks to Cartridges Solicitors in Exeter for
nominating us."

"Many thanks to DMB Law for nominating our school ...
very impressed with the quality of materials provided
from a citizenship perspective, and for the support for
students considering a career in the legal profession.
The weekly materials are used across all of our sixth
form tutor groups."

"I use the materials with my class every week and find
it a great help. The questions are at the correct level
and the youngsters love the variety. It increases their
interest in what is going on in the world and stimulates
really interesting discussions which would not arise in
the class at any other time. I also upload the quizzes
to the school server so all class teachers have access
to it. A very valuable resource. We are
grateful to everyone involved in compiling it and to
Grigor & Young for nominating our school."

"I use the materials from the Schools Law Web to
raise issues of current affairs, politics and law. The
worksheets are really helpful in raising awareness of
such issues in tutorial time. Many of our students do
not watch the news - (even the A Level students) - so
raising the topics on the resource sheets is very
interesting. As a teacher of Law I also find some
of the resources useful for my own teaching, so
appreciate our access to them. Many thanks to your
staff and to Bryan & Armstrong Solicitors."
